Castle Nuts
Castle Nuts are available in steel with a zinc finish. Featuring a cylindrical top with slots cut into it, castle nuts allow for the insertion of a cotter pin to secure the nut in place.
● Used with a cotter pin
● Notched on one side
● Torque the nut then align with the closest hole
● Used with a bolt or axle that has a hole in it
Castle nuts are normally used with Cotter Pins to create a locking fastener assembly that cannot be loosened due to accidental vibration. It is common to see this type of nut on vehicles and machinery where vibration is frequent.
